The Unicorn is an ancient mythical creature. In the middle ages, it was believed that one will show up to help you when you are true of heart and pure of intentions. It lives a life of freedom, one that was sought by women and peasants in a time when life was not to kind for them. The Unicorn is also the symbol for Scotland, a land that longs for a freedom of its own. The ancient Chinese called their unicorn a Qilin. It was one of the four noble animals, along with the Dragon, the Phoenix and the Turtle. Both the Chinese and Europeans looked to the unicorn as both male and female, Qilin literally translating as male/female. Where they exist, there is hope and joy.
